APDA Chapters

Chapters have a unique role in the APDA network.

APDA chapters have two primary functions: raising funds for research and increasing awareness. While each chapter operates differently to some extent, in general, chapters meet their goals by focusing on some combination of the following:

  • Raising funds for research
  • Developing educational symposia and conferences
  • Securing media attention
  • Publishing newsletters
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of support groups
  • Encouraging volunteerism
  • Advocacy
