Young Onset Parkinson's Disease Retreat

Ocean Springs, MS

The 6th Annual Retreat will be held March 29 through April 1, 2007 at the University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Research Laboratory in Ocean Springs.

Lee Voulters, MD, will be our guest speaker. Dr. Voulters is Mississippi’s only Movement Disorder specialist. He completed his fellowship in Movement Disorders, including Parkinson’s Disease at the Neurological Institute, College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University. His 1st patient was Muhammad Ali.

The YOPD Retreat will be lots of fun for the whole family! This is a time to meet new friends and to re-connect with old ones. This is truly a rewarding event you don’t want to miss.

We have some interesting programs lined up. Besides the Educational Sessions, other activities are: Tours of the Gulf Coast Research Lab; Deep Sea Fishing in the bays; Sailing, or trolling fishing for sea creatures; Yoga Classes and Chair Massages. There will be a “Live Band” and a “Whole lot of Shaking” going on at the Saturday Night Mardi Gras Ball. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes.

We have planned activities for the kids too: Educational Tours of the GCRL, games with prizes and other activities. Older children are encouraged to attend the MD sessions.
