Employment

Employment is a major area of concern for most young people with Parkinson's, yet little information is available to help make informed decisions about maintaining or terminating employment, changing jobs or finding new sources of income. The loss of a job can mean more than just a reduction in earnings. Being forced into early retirement can result in the loss of a scheduled day, decreased social interaction, and injury to our sense of identity and purpose.

The APDA would like to hear about your after-diagnosis employment experiences, as well as any helpful advice you’d like to offer. When appropriate, and with your permission, we will make this information available on this website in hopes of assisting others who are dealing with non-legal decisions regarding employment. If you’re willing to share, your experiences, please submit them to us at info@youngparkinsons.org.
