Sleep Difficulties

WorkatnightDifficulty with sleep is an extremely common complaint for people with early onset Parkinson's disease.

The fatigue resulting from Parkinson’s insomnia can make living with Parkinson’s and its other symptoms more challenging.

Parkinson’s insomnia doesn’t don't only affect the person with PD and don't only cause problems at night. If you are sharing your home or your bed with someone, your sleeplessness may keep you both awake. This can be frustrating and lead you both to be overly tired and fatigued during the day.

Medical professionals know much more about sleep now than ever before. If you are having difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, be sure to mention it to your doctor. He or she may want you to have a polysomnogram or "sleep study," which can help to pinpoint the exact nature of your sleep difficulty and help you and those around have better nights and better days.
